Trevor Calverley completed his honours at AFDA (the South African school of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance) winning best Cinematographer in 2005.

His student films have won numerous awards including, Best Cinematography for “Holiday” at the New York international Film festival in 2006 and best foreign language film for “Elalini” at the Student Oscars 2006. This same film won the best cinematography award at the Civic Theatre Film festival in 2006.

In 2007 he completed ‘Usindiso’ A 13 part series for the SABC which went on to win best DOP in a Drama Series. Over the next few years he would continue in the Television Drama sphere, winning an additional SAFDA for best DOP for ‘Intersexions’ and being nominated for ‘Sex tips for Girls’

In 2010 he shot ‘Night Drive’ his second feature, and was nominated in the best cinematography category at the SAFDA’s. ‘Material’ with comedian Riaad Moosa went on to be selected for multiple film festivals, and again was nominated in the best Cinematography category.

In 2012 he was selected to be on the Mail and Guardians list of 200 young south Africans

Most recently, he completed work on the feature ‘Fanie Fouries Labola’ which won the golden space needle at the Seattle International film festival.

His passion lies in lighting and composing feature length productions.
